If you’re looking for a Pioneer AVH 4200NEX review, it’s probably because you’re tired of dealing with old-fashioned CD players. New technology has essentially made them obsolete, and the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX might be exactly what you need to get your RV up to date. After all, who doesn’t love some great tunes on the open road?

But of course, it’s not quite that simple. Before making a purchase, there are a few things you need to know.

What exactly can this device do? Is it dependable and easy to use? And how does it compare to its competition? These are some of the things you need to know in a Pioneer AVH 4200NEX review.

What Is the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX?

  • Wvga Resistive multipoint Motorized touchscreen
  • Fully detachable faceplate
  • Android Auto with wired or wireless connectivity

The Pioneer AVH 4200NEX is a 2-DIN multimedia DVD receiver. If that doesn’t make any sense, don’t worry. It’s actually pretty simple.

As a digital multimedia receiver, the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX allows your RV to connect with your smartphone. This creates a whole world of new possibilities. Some of these include accessing your maps, making hands-free calls, and listening to music in exciting, new ways.

This device also acts as a DVD player, which allows your children to watch movies on the road to your adventure. This can come in especially handy on long road trips.

As mentioned before, the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX is also a 2-DIN receiver. 2-DIN simply means it’s the larger of the two different radio types that fit into RV dashboards. Radios typically come in single DIN or 2-DIN sizes. 2-DIN radios are twice as tall as single DIN radios.

To see if your current radio is 2 DIN, see if it measures 7 x 4 inches. A single DIN will measure 7 x 2 inches. Sadly, you won’t be able to use the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX if you have a single DIN unit. If you’re wondering if the Pioneer will fit in your RV, check here.

What Else Should You Know in a Pioneer AVH 4200NEX Review?

Of course, there are a few other things you should learn in a good Pioneer AVH 4200NEX review. Here are some more useful facts that will help you make a decision.

What unique features does it have?

The Pioneer AVH 4200NEX has a handful of features that set it apart from the competition. Two of these include the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. These apps allow you to easily access all of your most important features right from your display. This includes your maps, your music, and your calls.

This device also allows you to listen to music in a variety of different ways. It comes equipped with Pandora, SiriusXM, and HDRadio. You also get MIXTRAX which creates a unique playlist from your music library, complete with DJ-inspired effects.

Furthermore, you can connect your phone to the receiver through either Bluetooth or a USB cable. Bluetooth specifically allows you to make hands-free calls. You can even use the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX to access Siri.

Is it difficult to set up?

Unfortunately, a common complaint among digital media receivers is that they’re difficult to install and difficult to set up. However, the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX doesn’t have this problem. In fact, in every Pioneer AVH 4200NEX review we’ve researched, not a single person had any complaints about setting it up.

It’s easy enough to install that many customers chose to do it themselves. Once it’s installed, the rest will be pretty simple. The Pioneer’s AVH 4200NEX’s display and menus are all very intuitive and easy to follow. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting started.

What do its customers think?

Again, most customers found that using it and installing it were both extremely easy. They also loved how great it made their music sound. Many Android users, in particular, raved about the Android Auto app.

However, there have been a few complaints as well. Almost every negative Pioneer AVH 4200NEX review we found involved a glitch or bug of some kind. A few customers noted that it occasionally gets stuck in a boot loop in which it’ll reboot over and over.

Unfortunately, there’s always a small chance that you’ll get a defective unit when you buy a device like this. Also, several people have noted that the screen can be distractingly bright.

That being said, these experiences aren’t typical. Most people have been perfectly happy with the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX. It currently has 4.2 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
